The answer is “yes" and “no."
The high rise condo boom over the last few years has seen a tremendous amount of condo construction in and around the Dallas area. However, with soaring construction costs and weary investors, some residential tower projects in Dallas have either been put on hold or cancelled altogether.
The latest news in the condo market has been the fact that construction costs have been rising faster than the sales prices of condos. As a result, many investors are abandoning the housing market in Dallas. Other markets, such as California, Florida and Las Vegas have seen a much worse decline.
The interesting thing about the Dallas condo market, however, is that the high-end condos, which appear predominantly in the Uptown section of Dallas, are still fairing quite well. As a result, Uptown has continued to see strong numbers in the condo construction market.
Some of the projects currently underway in Uptown include Azure, Granite Gables and The Tower Residences at the Ritz-Carlton.
Azure
A prime example of fine, Uptown living is the Azure Dallas luxury condominiums. This spectacular building, which opened amidst much fanfare last December, boasts exclusive residences with resort-style amenities.
Located on North Harwood, Azure condominiums are considered to be one of the most affluent addresses in Uptown Dallas, and for good reason. The stone, metal and glass detailing, coupled with the amazing architectural lines and the small details such as the spectacular, encircling pool, afford Azure residents with the pinnacle of prestige and affluence.

Granite Gables Granite Gables, which is slated for construction and due to be completed by March 2010, is a mixed-use development project in the heart of the affluent Uptown section of Dallas.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of these dual towers is the convergence of the two towers on the seventh floor via a one-acre, beautifully landscaped haven. Called the amenity deck, this urban oasis boasts a 4,000 square foot fitness center, an outdoor, infinity-edge swimming pool and a gorgeous, park-like setting which overlooks Victory Park and downtown.
Features of the 20-story residential tower include balconies, ten-foot ceilings, loads of windows and fantastic views of Uptown, downtown and the future Woodall Rogers Park.
The Tower Residences at the Ritz-Carlton
The Residences at the Ritz-Carlton are located close to Uptown's fine restaurants, clubs, galleries and shops, as well as the Central Business District, the Arts District and the American Airlines Center.
Some of the exceptional features of the Residences, which are located on the Ritz-Carlton Hotel's upper 13 floors, include separate, private entrances, elevators and parking, as well as the amenities of the hotel, including a large ballroom, private meeting rooms, fine dining, a full-service spa, a large pool, a fully equipped fitness center.
